The more you know...
Many of the "L" series lenses now have a 2 mode IS. One for stationary subjects, while the second is for panning, such as following a bird in flight or a racecar around a corner. I will stabilize the vertical, but not the horizontal.

i was going to be a pedant and recommend a better f stop and ISO for those lighting conditions, but that is actually a pretty decent choice. Not the one i would choose, but a good one nonetheless. Nice one.
IS, however, would be completely unnecessary at the shutter speeds you would be using.

Although I haven't managed to find a dufflebag stuffed full of hundreds and had the opportunity to play with it too much, it is a really neat thing.
